Peter Ring AM  AFC

Peter's background varies from being a Fighter and Helicopter Pilot to an Instructor in Management Studies, a UN Peace Keeper, a Farmer, a Professional Wool Classer, Services to VIPs and International Heads of State and International Leadership and Communication Consultant.

Peter served in 3 different operational zones.

He completed tertiary-level training in Leadership and Management and then became an Instructor at the RAAF Staff College in Management Studies.

Peter spent many years puzzling between Management Theory and people’s real-world needs of being a pragmatic leader,

In the 1980s, Peter was instrumental in organising VIP arrivals in Australia including Prince Charles, the Pope,  and other heads of state and had extensive contact with meeting the VIP travel needs of the Whitlam, Hawke and Fraser Governments.  This role opened his eyes to a further  world of Senior State Leaders and Heads of State

He resigned from the Air Force in 1981. He bought a farm andf then became a Professional Wool Classer..  He found that  leadership and team values were alive and well in Shearing Sheds.  He also operated successful businesses in International Consultancy, Real Estate and Building Construction.

In 1985, Peter found himself in a helicopter fighting bush fires.  One Sunday morning, he took off at 10.55 am and at 11.07 had a hair-raising free fall in his helicopter to the ground.  The bit “on the way to the ground” and the bit “closely involving the ground” opened his eyes to another part of himself.  The ground won physically but Peter won spiritually and mentally.

Peter co-authored a book with John Kolm about life in Business entitled “Crocodile Charlie and The Holy Grail” published by Penguin Books.
